Privacy Policy

Welcome to the Forest Stewardship Council Consultation Platform ("Platform"). In this Privacy Policy, we will inform you about the type of personal data we collect, the extent to which we collect this data and the purpose for which we use this data.


1. Data controller

Data controller within the meaning of the data protection law for operating the Platform is FSC Global Development GmbH, Charles-de-Gaulle-Str. 5, 53113 Bonn ("we" or "FSC").


2. Automated data collection

2.1 When you use the Platform, your device (e.g. your PC or smartphone) will automatically transmit the following data to us:

  - Date and time of access,

  - Operating system,

  - Type of device,

  - Quantity of data transmitted,

  - IP address.

2.2 We will process this data only as required to enable you to technically use the Platform.


3. Registering a user account

3.1 In order to use the Platform, you are required to open a user account.

3.2 To open a user account, you must enter your first name, last name, organization, country, role in the FSC network and email address and you must choose a password.


4. Data processing in the course of the consultations

4.1 You may participate in consultations on the Platform which are conducted by the organizer of the consultation. Organizers may only be staff of FSC International (FSC Global Development GmbH and FSC International Center).

4.2 In the course of the consultations, policy and standards consultations related to the FSC network will be presented on the platform.

4.3 Platform users may comment on the subjects of the consultations. The comments will be assessed by the organizer.

4.4 Comments made by Platform users will not be published and may only be accessed by the organizer of a consultation.

4.5 If you make a comment, the organizer may get directly in touch with you via the platform or by email.

4.6 FSC may use the data collected in the course of a consultation (including demographic data) for the purpose of internal analysis of the consultation.


5. Use of your email address

FSC will inform you via email when a new consultation has been posted, when it starts, is about to end and has ended. Also, FSC will send you an email for password recovery as requested by you.


6. Google Analytics

This Platform uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the Platform analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the Platform will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. As the IP-anonymization was activated on this Platform, your IP address will be truncated within the area of Member States of the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases the whole IP address will be first transferred to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. The IP-anonymisation is active on this Platform. Google will use this information on behalf of FSC for the purpose of evaluating your use of the Platform, compiling reports on Platform activities and providing us other services relating to Platform activity and internet usage. The IP address that your Browser conveys within the scope of Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however, please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this Platform.

You can also opt-out from the collection of your data created by cookies and relating to your use of the Platform (including your IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plugin available under the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

You may also opt-out from the collection by Google Analytics by clicking the following link. An opt-out cookie will be placed preventing the collection of data for the future when you visit the Platform.

7. Changes in the Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy. You will find the latest version of this Privacy Policy on the Platform.
